“Live and Kicking” with Miercoles Po

After interviewing COMUNIDAD PO‘s staff on Monday February 13th at his weekly show “Live & Kicking”, I Love Chile Radio and DJ Marcial Diaz took all the gear and expectations to one of the hottest clubs in Bellavista – “Club Chocolate”, to witness and broadcast live one the biggest parties that brings together foreigners and Chileans.

We had been told previously by the organizers, Comunidad Po, on Monday 13th, that they had been gathering around a thousand guests lately at each of their parties. So, we thought we wanted to witness all this with our own eyes and ears.

We set up our radio gear strategically at the main door into the venue, where we could spot and talk to almost everybody coming in.

We surprised most foreigners asking them if they had tried the Chilean typical drink “Terremoto” (a mixture of wine and pineapple ice cream). Just as in a previous broadcast with other ex-pats, most of those surveyed said they were “unable to remember their terremoto experience”. But, some of them had already tried their “Terremoto” before joining Club Chocolate that night!

During the first hour a few people started to show up, but, by midnight this turned into massive crowds. We talked to people from various places such as Brazil, Netherlands, Australia, the U.S., Denmark, Germany, and, of course many Chileans that were there to party with these ex-pats.

Once our broadcast was finished, about half an hour past midnight, we decided to drop the mike, and join this party, specially invited by the Comunidad Po staff to their VIP section upstairs at the venue. From this priviledged location we could have an overview of the magnitude of this event, which was close to the figures already anticipated by the organizers.

After sharing a drink or two with international guests at the VIP section, we were kindly taken to the main stage to chill out for a while with their resident DJ, Jose Luis a.k.a. “DJ Delit”. DJ Delit was spinning and keeping everybody moving and entertained with a constant beat of the best international music.

At about 3 AM ILCR DJ Marcial Diaz left the party concluding it had been the biggest of its kind he had ever been to.
